Bitwise wins NYSE approval for Solana staking ETF

Bitwise wins NYSE approval for Solana staking ETF

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Arca has officially certified the approval for listing and registration of the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF, marking a major milestone for the integration of staking-based digital assets into traditional financial markets.

The ETF, structured as Common Shares of Beneficial Interest, has been approved for registration under the U.S. Securities Exchange Act of 1934, according to a letter dated October 27, 2025, sent to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The approval positions Bitwise as one of the first asset managers to launch a U.S.-listed exchange-traded fund tied to Solana, one of the fastest-growing blockchain networks known for its scalability and efficiency in decentralized applications and payments.

Unlike traditional crypto ETFs that hold tokens passively, the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF will actively stake the SOL tokens it holds, enabling investors to earn staking rewards directly through the regulated ETF structure.

This listing is being seen as a watershed moment for the broader cryptocurrency industry, following the earlier success of Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs.

It reflects a growing recognition by U.S. regulators and major exchanges that staking, where blockchain participants lock up assets to help validate network transactions in exchange for rewards, can be incorporated within regulated financial frameworks.

The move also highlights the NYSE Arca’s expanding role as a leading venue for digital asset ETFs. The exchange, which has previously listed several cryptocurrency-related products, continues to work closely with issuers like Bitwise to design compliant pathways for crypto exposure within U.S. capital markets.

Industry analysts suggest the approval could attract significant institutional interest, as the ETF structure offers a familiar and regulated way to gain exposure to Solana’s ecosystem without requiring direct crypto custody.

The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF represents not just an innovation in digital asset investing but also a signal that staking-based yield opportunities are moving into the mainstream financial landscape under SEC oversight.
