Circle partners with Safe to streamline institutional USDC use

Circle partners with Safe to streamline institutional USDC use

Circle Internet Group and Safe, a leading multisig-based smart account platform, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening institutional USDC treasury management.

The collaboration establishes Safe as a premier self-custody solution for USDC, integrating Circle’s regulated stablecoin infrastructure with Safe’s programmable, multi-signature smart accounts.

Currently, Safe smart accounts hold approximately $2.5 billion in USDC, reflecting strong market trust in the platform’s security and usability.

Safe’s infrastructure powers nearly 4% of all Ethereum transactions, offering institutional-grade security necessary for large-scale treasury operations while providing direct access to decentralized finance (DeFi) liquidity pools, where USDC remains a dominant asset.

Kash Razzaghi, Chief Commercial Officer at Circle, emphasized that as institutions increasingly move on-chain, they require secure and scalable infrastructure to manage digital capital efficiently.

He noted that Safe has proven critical for USDC adoption at scale, and the partnership will equip organizations, including DAOs, crypto-native funds, and Fortune 500 companies, with the tools to operate confidently in next-generation capital markets.

Lukas Schor, Co-founder of Safe, highlighted the growing flow of institutional capital into self-custody and DeFi. He stated that this partnership positions USDC as a core pillar of the Safe ecosystem, enabling Safe to become a trusted home for institutional stablecoin operations.

The partnership will focus on enhancing the experience for institutional USDC holders, from onboarding to advanced treasury management, while deepening product integrations and streamlining workflows. Safe Labs, the company’s dedicated initiative, will continue building enterprise-grade self-custody infrastructure to support rising institutional demand.

This collaboration reinforces the critical role of regulated, secure digital dollars in institutional treasury management and DeFi.

By combining Circle’s stablecoin with Safe’s robust smart account technology, the partnership lays the foundation for a new era of on-chain capital markets, providing institutions with safe, efficient, and compliant access to digital assets.
