Tether boosts reserves with 9,850 BTC purchase in Q4 2025

Tether boosts reserves with 9,850 BTC purchase in Q4 2025

Stablecoin giant Tether continued its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy in the final quarter of 2025, adding nearly 9,850 BTC to its corporate reserves, according to on-chain tracking and statements from company leadership.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino confirmed that the company acquired 8,888.8888888 BTC in Q4 alone, marking one of its most symbolic and notable purchases to date.

Blockchain monitoring account @EmberCN further reported that Tether accumulated an estimated 9,850 BTC throughout the quarter, valued at approximately $876 million at current market prices.

The buying spree included a 961 BTC withdrawal from Bitfinex on November 7, 2025, worth about $97.18 million, and a much larger 8,888.8 BTC transfer, valued at around $778 million, processed on the first day of 2026.

Blockchain data from mempool.space records the massive transaction carrying minimal fees relative to its scale, totaling just over 3,300 sats.

These newly purchased coins have been moved into Tether’s designated Bitcoin reserve address. That address now holds 96,185 BTC, worth roughly $8.42 billion, placing it among the top five largest Bitcoin wallets globally.

Tether, the issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin USDT, has increasingly emphasized Bitcoin as a core treasury reserve asset. The company has repeatedly touted Bitcoin’s scarcity, security, and long-term value as justification for its growing holdings.

Ardoino has positioned the BTC allocation strategy as part of Tether’s broader effort to build a more resilient and transparent reserve structure, diversifying beyond traditional financial instruments like cash and Treasury bills. The move also aligns with Tether’s stance on supporting Bitcoin infrastructure, mining investment, and decentralized financial ecosystems.

Industry analysts note that Tether’s continued accumulation further underscores institutional confidence in Bitcoin during a period of heightened economic uncertainty and strong digital asset market growth.

With stablecoins playing a central role in global crypto liquidity, Tether’s strategic reserves may also influence long-term market supply dynamics.

Tether has not disclosed whether its Bitcoin purchase pace will accelerate in 2026, but on-chain data suggests the company remains one of the most significant and consistent corporate buyers of BTC.
