WalletConnect, SEAL, and MetaMask form Crypto Defense Alliance

WalletConnect, SEAL, and MetaMask form Crypto Defense Alliance

SEAL, a leading crypto security initiative, has announced a major partnership with MetaMask, WalletConnect, Backpack, and Phantom to create a decentralized defense network aimed at combating crypto phishing and wallet drainers.

The coalition will use SEAL’s ‘Verifiable Phishing Reports’ technology to deliver real-time protection for end users against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

The Verifiable Phishing Reporter, launched last week, allows users to submit phishing reports with cryptographic proof of authenticity, ensuring submissions cannot be forged or manipulated.

These verified reports will now feed directly into participating wallets, automatically flagging and blocking malicious domains before users interact with them.

“Drainers are a constant cat-and-mouse game like most of security,” said Ohm Shah, a security researcher at MetaMask. “Working with SEAL allows wallet teams to be more agile and apply research effectively, throwing a wrench at the drainer’s infrastructure.”

WalletConnect’s CTO Derek Rein added that SEAL’s phishing data will strengthen the ‘WalletConnect Certified’ program, which already warns users about scam websites. “Security best practices must remain at the forefront of wallet development,” he said.

Backpack CEO Armani Ferrante called SEAL’s approach “a step toward a decentralized immune system for crypto,” allowing users to explore Web3 more safely.

Over the past two years, SEAL has worked with industry partners to take down notorious drainers such as ‘Inferno Drainer, Angel Drainer, Ace Drainer,’ and others. However, as defenses improved, hackers adapted, rotating domains faster, moving to offshore hosting, and using cloaking to evade detection.

The new network aims to turn the tide by crowdsourcing verified phishing intelligence across wallets globally. By decentralizing the process, SEAL says, “a single person’s report can help protect the entire crypto community.”

The partnership marks a pivotal moment for crypto security, transforming fragmented anti-phishing efforts into a unified, verifiable, and community-driven defense system.
