A search warrant has been issued against celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib and his son Anos Habib in connection with a multi-crore cryptocurrency fraud case in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.
The two are accused of defrauding over 100 investors by promising extraordinary returns through investments in Bitcoin and Binance Coin under their company, Follicle Global Company (FLC).
Police officials said a team led by Sub-Inspector Pavitra Parmar conducted a search at Habib’s residence in Delhi’s New Friends Colony on Wednesday.
Habib was not present at the location, and his brother, Amjad Habib, informed the officers that he no longer lived there. The search, which lasted about 30 minutes, concluded without the recovery of key evidence.
Superintendent of Police K. K. Bishnoi confirmed that the investigation now extends to Habib’s Mumbai property, where officers plan to seize documents and other materials relevant to the case.
According to investigators, Habib and his associates hosted promotional events across Uttar Pradesh, including one at the Royal Palace Venkat Hall in Sambhal in 2023.
There, around 150 participants reportedly invested between ₹5 lakh and ₹7 lakh each, amounting to an alleged ₹5–7 crore, after being promised returns of up to 75 percent within a year.
When the payouts never materialised, investors lodged multiple complaints, leading to 33 FIRs against Habib, his son, and Saifullah, the Sambhal head of FLC. The accused then allegedly shut down operations and went underground.
Police said Habib ignored a summons for questioning on October 12, citing health issues through his lawyer, a claim authorities deemed “unsatisfactory.”
SP Bishnoi added that the case points to a large-scale cryptocurrency scam and that police are considering invoking the Gangster Act to seize properties if sufficient evidence emerges.
“We are taking every possible step to trace Jawed Habib and ensure justice for the victims,” Bishnoi said.
